KORLENS is a Korea travel guide service. We collect minimal data necessary to operate the service. We do not sell personal data. We comply with Korean Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), GDPR (for EU visitors), and CCPA (for California residents).
2. Data we collect
- Email + display name (only if you sign in via Google OAuth) — for account identification and saved picks.
- IP address + user agent — automatically collected for security, fraud prevention, and analytics.
- Page views + click events — via Google Analytics 4 (anonymized IP).
- User-submitted content — your hidden picks contributions (when you choose to share).
3. Why we collect it
- Provide and improve the service (lawful basis: contract / legitimate interest)
- Authenticate signed-in users (lawful basis: contract)
- Aggregate analytics to understand which content travelers find useful (lawful basis: legitimate interest)
- Comply with legal obligations
4. Third-party processors
We use these vendors to operate. Each has its own privacy policy and security commitments:
- Vercel (US) — hosting, edge network
- Supabase (US, EU regions) — auth + database
- Google Analytics 4 (US) — anonymized usage analytics
- Google OAuth (US) — sign-in
- Anthropic (US) — AI chat assistance (only when you use the chat feature)
For EU residents: we transfer data to US-based vendors under Standard Contractual Clauses where applicable.
5. Retention
- Account data: until you delete your account
- Analytics data: 14 months (GA4 default)
- Server logs: 30 days
- User-submitted picks: published indefinitely unless you request removal
6. Your rights
Under PIPA (Korea) / GDPR (EU) / CCPA (California), you can:
- Access your data (request a copy)
- Correct inaccurate data
- Delete your account and associated data
- Object to processing or request restriction
- Withdraw consent at any time
- File a complaint with your local data authority

7. Cookies
We use:
- Essential cookies (session, auth) — cannot be disabled
- Analytics cookies (GA4) — you can opt out via your browser's Do Not Track or by installing the GA opt-out add-on
We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies as of this date.
8. Children
KORLENS is not directed at children under 13 (US) / 14 (Korea) / 16 (EU). We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe we have, contact us for deletion.
